I'm Back!!!

Well hello everyone! I honestly thought my blogging days were over. I had no intentions of reopening this blog.

I don’t want to go into all the details, but life has thrown us A LOT of curveballs since you last heard from me. Let’s just say it’s involved multiple heath issues in the family, moving halfway across the country in the summer and moving back to my hometown in the fall, losing jobs, and in some ways losing hope (not to sound too dramatic, but it sort of feels like any of our plans for our life aren’t going to come to fruition).

I started blogging during my last spring in college-right before I got married and moved away. I wanted to use it as a way to keep my family and friends updated on my life. I also just enjoyed writing out my thoughts and feelings on certain topics. For about a year, that’s all my blog really was. Then, I started seeing a few people I knew being “real bloggers” and I became interested in doing this as well. So, I started growing my blog. I did sponsorships and link ups and commented and was active on social media and tried to make my post pinnable and all the other things you’re supposed to do when you grow a blog. IT. WAS. EXHAUSTING. Around the time we were expecting our daughter, I began to get burnt out-which is why I slowed down my blogging A LOT (that plus being pregnant). Then, after having Baby Hall it was all too much. So, I made the decision to quit blogging. I even made my blog private and deleted my blog Facebook page. However, I missed the writing part of blogging. I missed sharing my ideas. There were so many times something would happen or I'd think of something and I thought about how I was going to blog about it---and then I remembered I don't blog anymore.

It hit me one day that I could continue to blog as long as I went about it with this mindset-I'm blogging for myself. I don't want to focus on the numbers. I don't really care if people are reading. I don't want to feel like I have to blog so many times a week, promote myself constantly on social media, comment on other blogs, create pinnable images, participate in link ups, etc. I want to write when I have something I want to share. If only 5 people read it, then only 5 people read it. That is how I started out and it was so much more enjoyable that way...

*  *  *

I will probably share on Twitter when I write a post and I'm going to try and use my Instagram account more often. I won't be recreating a Facebook page because it was pretty useless anyway. I'm also very active on Pinterest if you're interested.

Baby Hall's Birth Story- Part 2

*To see how we got to this point, be sure to read Part 1 of Baby Hall's birth story.*

So, at 41 weeks 6 days pregnant, we were finally going to meet our baby.

We headed home and I ate something quickly so that I could get in one last meal before my midnight cut off. Then, I tried unsuccessfully to sleep. I could not shut my mind off. I got on up early to spend some time praying for a safe delivery, for Baby, and for our future as parents. We got ready and too soon it was time to head back to the hospital. My parents were on their way, but had gotten into some traffic and I wasn’t sure if they would make it before the procedure.

We checked in and they led us to the triage room. More vitals were taken and questions were answered. Then, I met the physician who would deliver (I hadn’t seen any physicians during my pregnancy. I’d seen the midwives.) The midwife who would assist her also stopped by. My parents arrived and I was glad to get to see them before I had to go back for surgery. The anesthesiologist came in next to introduce herself and ask if I had any questions or concerns. My biggest concerns were that I would freak myself out during surgery thinking about what was going on on the other side of the curtain and that I would get nauseous and sick during surgery. Everyone tried to reassure me.

Finally, it was time. Lee and my parents stayed back in the triage room while they walked me to the operating room to prepare. I was surprisingly calm. The operating room was freezing. I was shaking so hard. They had me sit on the table and the anesthesiologist began prepping my back for the spinal. The nurse rubbed my shoulders and tried to warm me up. Getting the spinal was not bad and shortly after, I was lying on the table and could tell the bottom half of my body was numbing. The doctor and midwife came in at this point and started doing their prep work. Soon they were putting up the curtain and going to get Lee. It was time to get started.

I continued to be amazed at how calm I was. It was a very strange sensation to know something was going on with the bottom half of your body and I could feel that people were touching me and doing something, but it didn’t hurt. Lee and I tried to talk to ease our nerves of meeting Baby.

After a little while, they said it was almost time. I heard them say “Look at all that hair.” Then, I felt them pushing on my stomach and could tell they were pulling her out. There were many comments about her hair and how beautiful she was. They held her up and we got our first glimpse of our daughter. Then, she was handed to a team of pediatricians who took her over to another section of the operating room to check her out. Lee walked over there to take pictures and I watched from the table.

She was crying and her dark head full of hair was curled. She ended up weighing 9lbs 1oz and was 21 inches long. After the pediatricians finished with her, she was brought over to me. She was laid over my shoulder and her head was right up under my head. Lee held her there and she calmed down. We noticed right away they she went to work sucking on her hands. As she was moving her hands around, she kept pulling the oxygen from my nose. It was so surreal to finally meet her.

Lee got to sit there holding her while they finished stitching me up. I continued to be so thankful that none of my fears came true. I didn’t get freaked out. I didn’t get sick. I didn’t feel like I couldn’t breathe. Everything went perfectly. When they were almost finished, they put Baby in the basinet and took her and Lee to the recovery room. Then, they cleaned me up and transferred me to a bed. I was amazed at how efficient everything was. Everyone knew what to do and everything ran smoothly.

When they wheeled me to the recovery room, Lee was there along with my parents and my mom was already holding Baby Hall. We hung out there for a little while before being taken to our room. We ended up staying 2 nights in the hospital and came home Thanksgiving evening.

Overall, my pregnancy and birth experience were great. The worst part of having a C-section for me was having them have to come in throughout the day and push on my stomach and the fact that I couldn’t really hold Baby right away and I wasn’t able to do much for her in the first 24 hours due to being sore and confined to the bed. We also were really impressed with the hospital and staff.

Being a mom has been a wonderful, yet exhausting experience. I definitely have a new appreciation and respect for moms everywhere.

*Lee and I decided for many reasons not to share the names or pictures of any children that we may have. I really wish I could share a picture of her with you, but you'll just have to take my word for it that she is so beautiful and perfect!*

Baby Hall's Birth Story- Part 1

I used to not understand why people shared their birth stories on their blogs. It used to just freak me out and make me second-guess whether I wanted biological children or not. Giving birth sounded scary! However, when I got pregnant and my due date began to approach, I started seeking out those birth stories. I wanted to know all the possibilities of what I could expect. I think I was also looking for reassurance that giving birth wasn’t as terrifying as I thought it was. I now know that I want to write up my daughter’s birth story so that I will always remember the details. I also know from experience that by sharing a birth story, you are helping someone who is preparing for their own birth story.

*On the due date*

When discussing my maternity leave with my school’s principal, I decided that I didn’t want to work up until I went into labor. The thought of my water breaking or going into labor while teaching definitely scared me. Plus, I knew I’d be tired and probably very uncomfortable at that point. On the other hand, I didn’t want to take off too much time because I knew that babies don’t always adhere to due dates. After careful consideration, I decided to let Friday, November 7, be my last day at work before my leave. My due date was November 12, so this didn’t seem like an unreasonable time to take off.

That date couldn’t have gotten there fast enough. Preparing for a maternity leave as a teacher is no joke. No matter how prepared I was, I kept thinking of more things I needed to do before I left. On top of my preparations, I was bombarded with meetings that needed to get done before I left. I had a busy few weeks leading up to my last day.

That day finally came and I settled in at home for what I was hoping would be a few days of relaxing before the big day. Before I continue, I have to share that I had a very easy pregnancy. I didn’t really have any morning sickness. I had no complications. Everything was fine at all my appointments. I was quite proud of the fact that I didn’t gain tons of weight and I felt like I didn’t look pregnant anywhere but my belly. Besides being tired, I wasn’t uncomfortable or in any pain as my due date approached. I thanked God every night for blessing me with an easy pregnancy.

My first week home on leave went great. Lee and I spent a lot of time together relaxing, preparing last minute things for baby, and walking. I wasn’t too worried as my due date passed because I know that hardly anyone delivers on their due dates and most first time moms go past their due date. My second week home, I began to get restless. I was bored. I like to have a routine and schedule to my day. I wanted to relax without being completely lazy and I didn’t want to start any new project around the house because I didn’t know when I’d deliver and I didn’t want to leave something halfway done. I spent a lot of time that second week watching Netflix, completing a puzzle, and reading.

At my 41-week appointment, we discussed with my midwife that I would need to be induced that upcoming Wednesday if I hadn’t delivered by then. I didn’t want to be induced, but I knew that I didn’t need to go past 42 weeks. At this point, I am 41 weeks pregnant and have not had one single contraction or labor sign. The only things I could interpret as labor signs were some increased cramping (nothing worse than period cramps) and some occasional tightening in my stomach. I had a feeling I wasn’t going to go into labor on my own

Over the weekend, I continued to do several of the things people recommend you do to start labor naturally. I prayed that I would go into labor on my own and not have to be induced. Monday rolled around with no such luck. I had an appointment Monday afternoon. I had started to come to terms with the fact that our daughter would arrive on Wednesday and would be induced to get here. When I arrived for my appointment, they took me to a small room where I was hooked up to some monitors and sat back in a recliner. I could hear Baby Hall's strong heartbeat. I was handed a button and instructed to push it every time I felt her move. The nurse left me and I sat back, relaxed, read, and watched the monitor some. A PA came in to check on me some time later and took the printout from the machine to share with the midwife.

*very pregnant selfie*

After some more waiting, the midwife comes in. She tells me that Baby Hall’s heart rate is a little high plus my blood pressure had been high. Then, she said “It’s just time for this baby to be born.” She wanted me to go right across the street to the hospital. I was shocked. It wasn’t time yet. I was still supposed to have a couple of days to prepare for giving birth. With an induction, my parents were going to be able to be here in time to be present for the whole birth. Lee hadn’t gone to my appointment with me. I was alone and scared. The midwife told me to call Lee and have him meet me at the hospital.

I walked out to the parking lot and called Lee. Then as I was getting in the car, I called my mom and finally broke down crying. After getting off the phone with her, I knew that Lee was gathering up the rest of our hospital stuff and was on his way. I knew that my mom was getting up with my dad and they both were leaving work, going home to get their stuff together, and head our way. I knew that I was not ready for this!

While driving the short distance to the hospital, I did some deep breathing, some praying, and some reassuring of myself. After parking, I slowly made my way to the labor and delivery floor. I was ready for Lee to get there so that I wasn’t alone. They got me checked in and settled in a triage room. A nurse came in and started taking vitals and asking me questions. I found out that both my heart rate and Baby’s heart rate were high. I also realized I hadn’t drank very much that day. I was a little dehydrated causing our high heart rates. They brought me a giant cup of water and told me to get busy drinking. They wanted me to drink that one and several more.

I was so relieved when Lee got there. The midwife came in to talk with me and so far my blood pressure and our heart rates were going back down to levels where they needed to be. The midwife went to try and check my cervix and had the same problem that had occurred the last time they tried to check my cervix- they couldn’t reach it. It was very high up and probably not dilated. She also felt my stomach and even though Baby was positioned the correct way, she was not very far down in my pelvis. The midwife also felt that she was going to be a large baby from the size of my stomach, what she felt, and my recent ultrasound.

She began to discuss my options. She said they could begin the induction process, which would have to include both softening my cervix and giving me medication to start contractions. Because my body did not seem ready for labor yet, she said that the induction/labor process could last 2-3 days. On the other hand, I could have a C-section since it was looking like she was going to be big and labor/delivery may be difficult. I was overwhelmed and my mind was racing. I wasn’t ready to make this type of major decision. I had just wanted labor to start naturally and I just wanted to let my body naturally do what God had made it to do. I also wanted my parents to be there.

The midwife said that I didn’t have to make a decision yet. She wanted me to have another ultrasound to check a few things and get an estimated fetal weight. They also wanted me to continue to drink water since our levels were evening out. This would give me time to think and for Lee and I to discuss what we wanted to do.

The thought of having to be induced and labor over several days did not appeal to me. Plus I knew that even if I went through days of induction/labor, I could still end up having a C-section if things continued to not progress. The thought of having a C-section also scared me. I hadn’t done a lot of research on C-sections so I didn’t know what to expect. I talked to a few people and Googled a few things while waiting for the ultrasound.

They took me down for the ultrasound and the technician kept going on and on about how my amniotic fluid levels were low and they weren’t going to let me go home like that. This did not help how I was feeling. She estimated Baby’s weight to be about 9 lbs 14 oz. She finished the ultrasound and then I spent a long time waiting for someone to come take me back to the labor and delivery triage room. I don’t know how long it was, but it seemed like forever. My mind was racing over what to do and I really had to pee from all the water I’d been drinking.

Once I finally got back to the room, Lee and I talked about our decision while waiting on the midwife to come back. She came back and said that the ultrasound tech had not given them a score for the fluid levels. That number would help them determine if I needed to deliver right away or if it could wait. Lee and I made the decision to have the C-section and the midwife and nurse felt like that was the best thing in our situation. They brought up a portable ultrasound machine and determined that the fluid levels were not dangerously low, so we could wait to have the C-section the next morning. They also told us we could go home so we could get a good night’s rest.

Blog and Social Media Maternity Leave

I feel like I write about my thoughts on social media a lot. It's become such a big part of our lives (or at least my life) that I guess it's hard not to have a lot of thoughts about it. I'm still working through what role social media will play in my life once Baby Hall arrives. I also know that I don't want to be that person that overshares. Social media and (sometimes) blogging is often a time waster for me. I know there are more productive things I can be doing.

So, this post is to let you know that I'll be taking a blogging and social media maternity leave. I only have a limited time off of work and I'll never get this time again, so I want to enjoy it and live in the moment. I don't want to worry about updating all my "friends" and followers of my every move. I don't want to waste my time scrolling through newsfeeds with news that's usually not that interesting.

My maternity leave will at least be through January. I don't plan on posting anything on my blog during that time. I probably won't read any blogs during that time either. I am going to remove Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter from my phone and may have my husband change my passwords so I'm not tempted to get on. I will use email, text messaging, or maybe old fashion phone calls to keep in touch with family and close friends.

I admit I will probably keep Pinterest. One reason being that I will be using it as a reference for all things baby. However, if I see that I'm spending too much time on there, it may have to go as well.

I'm hoping that taking an almost 3 month break will help me to feel less dependent on these sites.

I also hope that you have a wonderful holiday season. It's my favorite time of year!

See you in about 3 months!

Baby Showers

I didn't mean to disappear for a month. I was tracked out of school for the last 3 weeks of September, but we were very busy. We spent a week visiting family; I organized baby stuff; I cleaned our apartment; I planned my entire 2nd quarter in preparation for Baby Hall's arrival; and we took a quick trip. Then, I've been back to work a week so I've been too tired to do much of anything.

I imagine my posts will be few and far between over the next few weeks and then I don't know when I'll be back to blogging after Baby Hall's arrival in November. We'll have to see how life goes, so I'm just warning you.

Along with everything else going on, I've had 4 baby showers in the last month. I had one in my hometown with my family and friends. I had one in Lee's hometown with his family and family friends. I had one with my coworkers and one with people from church. I enjoyed them all and appreciate everyone's generosity.

Today, I thought I'd share some pictures from those showers.

 These were from my hometown:
These were 4 of my best friends growing up.
My talented aunt made us this quilt after I found it and fell in love with it on Pinterest.
I have to make sure she grows up knowing how to say, "Roll Tide."
I love these adorable pink converses from another aunt.

These were from the shower in Lee's hometown:

Girl clothes are so much fun.
 A onesie Lee can appreciate

These are from my shower with my coworkers:

One of my crafty coworkers made this adorable mobile.

These are from my shower with friends from church:

Some of the girls in my growth group who helped make the shower possible.

It can be a bit overwhelming to experience the generosity of people. We are so blessed to have so many great family and friends in our lives.

If I can get myself together, I'd love to share a post showing you what I am able to get done on the nursery and how I'm organizing things.

However, on my to do list this week is to pack a hospital bag and to get the carseat installed. Do you have any suggestions of what I must have in my hospital bag?

Total Social: Guilty Pleasures

Helene in Between

Today's topic is definitely a fun one: guilty pleasures! I have many, so let me share some of them with you.

Eating Cookie Dough
I'm a little bit addicted to eating raw cookie dough. I have been known to buy some simply to eat as cookie dough and never as cookies. If I am making cookies, I buy a large container so I have plenty of cookie dough to eat as well. Since becoming pregnant, this has been a hard thing to give up. Even when I want some yummy cookies, I refuse to buy cookie dough because I'm not sure I can resist eating it!

Self Serve Frozen Yogurt
This is another food addiction of mine. Whoever invented these types of places was a genius. I have no shame...I pile mine high with everything chocolate imaginable. Unfortunately, my husband refuses to eat at these places so I either have to go alone or find friends to go with.

Reality TV or Competition Shows
I can pretty much get into any reality/competition show. So, I often just keep myself from watching them because I know once you start...it's hard to stop. Some channels will do marathons of one reality show all day and in college, I definitely got sucked in like that a time or two. I have a few that I do watch on a regular basis- Dancing with the Stars, Dance Moms, Catfish, Shark Tank, and Next Great Baker. Although, I have been known to watch Duck Dynasty, Toddlers & Tiaras, Dating Naked, Whodunnit?, The Bachelor, Myrtle Manor, Keeping up with the Kardashians, Say Yes to the Dress, Supernanny, Undercover Boss, Pawn Stars, The Voice, etc. etc....the list could go on and on.

Throwback Music
I love listening to a 90s or 00s station on Pandora or busting out the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, etc music on my ipod. I think part of it is the nostalgia of it all. Another part is that music is fun. I can remember when that type of music started going out of style and it was embarrassing to be caught listening to it still. However, now #throwbacks are cool.
(How many of you had the original Now CD?)

Okay...if I have to be completely honest...none of these things make me feel too guilty. :)

What about you? What are some of your guilty pleasures?

Anniversary/Babymoon Trip

Several months ago, Lee and I decided to go to the Outer Banks in July to celebrate our 4 year anniversary and the upcoming arrival of our daughter. Unfortunately, Lee got sick a week and half before our trip and stayed sick up until the trip. He wasn't 100% better when we left on Saturday morning. In the end, I think it was beneficial to him to get out of the house and get his mind on other things. Overall, we had a great time.

I really love the Outer Banks and I enjoy going to the beach, but I've already told Lee that our next vacation is to the mountains. I don't go there nearly as much, but it's my favorite vacation spot. We honeymooned in the mountains in Tennessee and my first choice of a Babymoon was to return there. For many reasons, that didn't work out. So, we made the best of what we could do.

Here are some pictures from our trip.

On our drive, we saw a bear.

On the first day, we went to see the Lost Colony play which was something we weren't able to do the first time we went to the Outer Banks.

One day, we went in search of wild horses which is also something we weren't able to see on our first Outer Banks trip. We ended up seeing a lot of them.

I always enjoy seeing the lighthouses.

We didn't end up doing any laying out on the beach, but we did drive on it, walk on it, and collect some shells and driftwood.

If you've had a baby or are expecting a baby did you or are you planning to take a Babymoon? If you're married, do you take trips to celebrate your anniversary?

Something Had to Give

If anyone is paying attention...you may notice I haven't been blogging consistently at all. I admit, I've considered stopping altogether. But...I do enjoy writing when an idea comes along or the mood strikes. I've just had to resolve myself to the fact that I'm not now or will probably ever be a big blogger.

Shortly after finding out I was pregnant, I didn't blog a lot because I was SO. EXHAUSTED. When my energy picked up a little, I'd tried to get back into blogging but my heart wasn't in it anymore. I couldn't keep up with the demand of having a successful blog. I had new priorities.

Now that a new school year has started, I'm busier than ever. I'm trying to stay on top of things at my job and do the best that I can there. I'm also trying to keep our apartment clean and cook dinner on a regular basis. I'm trying to do things to prepare for our baby's arrival. I'm trying to get back into a routine of spending time reading my Bible and praying. I'm getting back into one of my favorite hobbies-reading. Plus, I have to have some relaxing time. Most days...I don't care to try and write a blog post, promote a blog post, or read other people's blog post.

Working full time, being a wife, and preparing to be a mom is no joke. It's time consuming, energy consuming, and stressful. I can't do it all. I'm not superwoman. I have to give myself some slack in some areas. One of those areas I decided to back off on was blogging.

It's been a battle because I decided I didn't want to give it up completely; but if you're not consistent, you lose readers. I read the advice all the time that you need to blog several times a week and promote yourself on social media several times a day and you need to write engaging posts. I don't know how people do it! It's exhausting just to think about.

With my life changing, I know I don't want to be a mom blogger. There's nothing wrong with mom bloggers, it's just not the direction I personally want my blog to take. I also have decided that I want to keep some things private and guarded. I don't want to share all about my child on my blog. Again, I have no problem with people who do that...that's their choice. I, however, am choosing not to do that. So, I know that when our baby arrives, she'll consume much of my time. This leaves little time for blogging and I'll probably have little else to talk about in the beginning.

So, I've accepted the fact that my blog may not have the best posts, the most readers, and the most comments. I'm not writing my blog to build up an audience or have a business. I'm writing for me. I'm writing to share my thoughts and ideas when I have them. I'm writing because I do enjoy it and don't want to completely stop. I've noticed that in some bloggers "advice to bloggers" type posts, they make it sound like this is the wrong way to blog. Why does their have to be a "right" way? Why are their rules? Why shouldn't we be free to blog how and when we want to?

So, if you read this rambling post, thanks! If you still read this blog, thanks! I really do appreciate it.

What do you think? Do you think there is a certain or right way you should blog or should it be up to the individual person? What's your blogging philosophy?

Deciding What Role Social Media Will Play in my Life as a Mom

I recently came across this video and thought it was very powerful. If you haven't seen it already, I'd encourage you to watch it first.

It took me a while to get a smart phone. I didn't want to be one of "those people." You know...the people who are attached to their phones. Well, I finally got a smart phone and I hate to say I've become what I didn't want to be. Sitting at a red light? Check my phone. Waiting to pick up my order at a restaurant? Check my phone. Laying in bed at night? Check my phone. Commercial on TV? Check my phone. The list could go on and on. It's just second nature now to reach for my phone when I have a second of down time. What happened to just sitting a minute? Why do I now feel the need to be constantly entertained? Over a year ago, I wrote a guest post about this growing habit I observed in others. Now, this person is me.

On a good note, I do try really hard to not get out my phone if I'm visiting with someone-even if it's just my husband. I still try to respect that time.

Smart phones aren't the "bad guys" here. Even before I had a smart phone, I spent more than enough time on social media.

Now, don't get me wrong. There are things about social media that I love. I live far away from my family and many friends. It's a great way to keep in touch, know what they're up to, and share what I'm up to. Through blogging I've been able to meet people and have opportunities that I never would have met or had otherwise.

It's just interesting to me to think how in a few short years social media has really integrated itself to be a part of our every day life.

Now that we're expecting our first child, I've really been thinking about what role I want social media to play in my life as a mom. I also have been thinking about what role I want technology to play in my child's life.

My thoughts on my social media use:

-I don't want to miss out on time with my child because I can't get off my computer or phone.

-I don't want to be so wrapped up in capturing a moment in a picture or video and sharing it on social media that I miss enjoying and actually living in the moment.

-I don't want my child to view me as the person who always has her laptop open or her nose stuck to her ipad or iphone screen. I don't want that to be the norm.

-I don't want to feel like I need to share every little thing my child does and says with the internet world.

-I don't want to feel like I have to be super mom and do all the cool things that I see posted on my various social media newsfeeds and Pinterest feed.

-I don't want to share every little detail of our personal lives with "friends" who I don't even know that well.

My thoughts on technology for my child:

-Obviously the abundance of technology brings up a lot of issues like children accessing things they shouldn't be looking at or talking to people they shouldn't be talking to. At this point, that isn't even my main concern. I'm concerned that there are babies who can use an iphone better than my mom. (Sorry mom...it's true.)

-I don't want to use technology to pacify my child.

-I want my child to grow up playing and using her imagination, not stuck in front of a screen of some type.

-Technology has it's place and it will be an even bigger part of my child's life than it was mine, but I don't want it consuming her life from the very beginning.

Again, I will say that I don't think social media or even technology are bad things. There are things about them that I love and that make my life so much easier. I just think it's about finding a good balance and sometimes that can be really difficult.

How do you balance your time on social media as a mom? What are your thoughts on your child and technology?

Baby Hall Gender Predictions: Old Wives Tales

One of the first things you want to know when you find out you're pregnant is will it be a boy or girl? We began talking about names from the very beginning, so we're ready to find out what it is so we can pick a name for sure. I'm also ready to start planning the nursery and other things more specifically. Not to mention, I'm itching to buy some adorable baby clothes. I also think knowing the gender helps to make it all feel more real. We will be finding out Baby Hall's gender THIS WEEK!

Of course, there's not sure way to predict a baby's gender before the ultrasound, but the old wives tales are fun to look at. Here are what mine have to say: {I colored the one that's true for me}

-Morning Sickness: Yes-Girl, No-Boy

-Sleep Position: Left-Boy, Right-Girl
{This one was difficult to answer because I don't noticeably prefer one over the other. If back were an option, that would be my choice.}

-Acne: No-Boy, Yes-Girl

-Cravings: Sweet-Girl, Salty-Boy
{Again, I don't have a clear cut winner here. I haven't really, truly craved that much. I eat plenty of sweets, but most of the things I've actually craved were salty.}

-Carrying: High-Girl, Low-Boy

-Heart rate: greater than 140-girl, less than 140-boy

-Chinese calendar: Girl, Boy

-Mayan Predictor: Girl, Boy

-Moodiness: Moody-Girl, Happy-Boy

-Headaches: More-Boy, Less-Girl

-Needle & Thread Test- Circle-Girl, Back and Forth-Boy

So, it seems pretty even from these tests. We'll find out soon enough!

Also, I thought I'd share my bumpdates from the first half of the pregnancy (I plan to do one this week for my 20 week bumpdate).

If you've had a baby, were any of these old wives tales accurate for you?
